..PROJECTS - Town Hall Heritage Garden
...
Located at the south end of Town Hall, the Heritage Garden replaced an unattractive view of that building. It was designed by Bruce McCue and Paul Courchaine as a learning exhibit and features medicinal, dye and culinary plants used by Wethersfield's colonists and Native Americans.
Many of the plants in the Heritage Garden are native to New England. Others came to America aboard ships bound from Europe, carried among the belongings of the early settlers. When they first came to America the colonists brought many of their own seeds and rootstocks.
Special paths and signs guide visitors through the Heritage Garden. Brochures describing the various plants in the garden are available in the library or through the Wethersfield Beautification Trust.
